Our first Skype of the year! We spoke with a ranger on Angel Island, the west coast immigration station. We learned about the Chinese immigrants that were held there because of fear that they would take US jobs. They carved poetry in the walls, as seen in this photo, depicting the sorrows they faced at the station.

The 5th/6th grade has embarked on a new project: School Stores. Students have brainstormed innovative ways to make money selling different items (a few are pictured here). There are 7 stores: Slime, Ice Cream, Rubber Band Creations, Duct Tape Wallets, Cotton Candy, Duritos, & Tie-Dye Shirts. Through this real life lesson, students have learned how to become a CEO of their own company, learning profit and loss, customer service, and supply and demand. These students are entrepreneurs in the making!

We had a lot of readers receive Reading Counts awards at the monthly Student Awards Ceremony last Friday. They have been working very hard to score points for reading comprehension and have been earning Diplomas, AA's, BA's and their Masters. We are eagerly awaiting our first Doctorate award. Who will it be? We have a couple who are very close.....Go Wildcats. Parents and family members please remember that the Awards Ceremony is the first Friday of every monthly. Hope to see you there.
Our Elementary students enjoyed Easter early this year before their much needed Spring Break! They got an Easter egg hunt, dyeing of eggs (rice shake, mosaic eggs or design imprinting), and parties in class! Have a great time off kiddos!
