The elementary team is participating in the 2018 Global Read Aloud. During GRA, teachers read aloud assigned books per grade level. We then connect with other classes around the country reading the same books, using platforms like Flipgrid, Skype, Edmodo, Seesaw, and Kidblog. This is an amazing way to make Global connections and learn through the eyes of others!

6th grade hosted 2nd grade for another amazing and informative Skype call to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. We learned all about the Giant Sequoia trees and what it takes for these trees to grow so big. In this picture the park ranger shows us a tree that was cut down. It was over 30 feet wide!

The 5th/6th grade has embarked on a new project: School Stores. Students have brainstormed innovative ways to make money selling different items (a few are pictured here). There are 7 stores: Slime, Ice Cream, Rubber Band Creations, Duct Tape Wallets, Cotton Candy, Duritos, & Tie-Dye Shirts. Through this real life lesson, students have learned how to become a CEO of their own company, learning profit and loss, customer service, and supply and demand. We had a lot of readers receive Reading Counts awards at the monthly Student Awards Ceremony last Friday. They have been working very hard to score points for reading comprehension and have been earning Diplomas, AA's, BA's and their Masters. We are eagerly awaiting our first Doctorate award. Who will it be? We have a couple who are very close.....Go Wildcats. Parents and family members please remember that the Awards Ceremony is the first Friday of every monthly. Hope to see you there.

Mrs. Pawlicki’s class paid a visit to Ms. Truong’s class to share the stories they had been working on for weeks. Students were able to read their stories to groups of younger students.

Preschool to 4th grade were able to enjoy a visit from the local fire station. They were able to tour the ambulance as well as the fire truck. Students got to try out the hose, try on the equipment.

Birch Aquarium came by our school to visit. They got to learn about sea snails, hermit crabs, shore crabs, sea anemones and sea stars. Students had a great time learning about these sea creatures.
