Dear Warner Parents,
Warner Unified has partnered with different organizations to help bring better internet to the backcountry. Our hotspots have helped most families get adequate internet but there are still areas that are not receiving internet. If you or someone you know isn't receiving adequate internet please fill out the following survey:
https://oshunsorchard.com/san-diego-backcountry-starlink-survey/
https://oshunsorchard.com/san-diego-backcountry-starlink-survey-spanish/
This survey is created by the owners of the Ranchita store who have been working with Starlink (Elon Musk's company) to make sure we have the demand to get Starlink in our area.

Dear Warner Parents,
Reminder that as we move into flu season and COVID cases are on the rise. We all need to do our part to keep our school safe. Please symptom screening each morning before sending your kids to school. Do not send your child to school if they have any of the following: fever, cough, shortness of breath, fatigue, muscle aches, headache, sore throat, loss of smell or taste, congestion or runny nose, nausea or vomiting, or diarrhea.
A student is to stay home for 14 days or get a COVID test. If the test is negative the student may return after 72 hours after symptoms resolved. If you have any questions please call the district office at 760-782-3517.

Middle School Hike to the W with masks

Reminder Warner parents and staff that in-person classes will be back on Monday. We will also be delivering lunches on Monday and Friday this week. Regular time and regular place. If you can not make it to pick up the lunches, please call so the lunch doesn't go to waste.

Dear Warner Parents,
Here is a quick important message. Reminder that tomorrow is lunch delivery day. We will not be delivering the following week because of the holidays. The delivery will be on the following Monday November 30th. There will be 2 deliveries that week.
I also am happy to report since we quarantined we have had no extra Covid cases. Shutting down the school was an extra step just incase the quarantine didn't work. There has been no spread of Covid between our initial 2 cases and the staff and students who came in contact. Our safeguards were a successful.
We will be returning to school November 30th for in-person classes. We still ask parents to symptom screen every morning and not to send students to school who have symptoms.
Thank you everyone and have a good night.

Mrs. Zurcher-Upson and Mrs.Sutton
(School Counselor) teamed up today and presented to the freshman Bio class their SAE project assignment. This year students are completing a Career Exploration component. One of the sections asks students "What agriculture and academic classes should you take to be prepared for the next steps after high school". This was a perfect opportunity to learn about the A-G requirements and also Dual enrollment through Palomar College. A fun game of Kahoot was a great way to end the lesson.

In preparation for reading Agatha Christie's murder mystery, "And Then There Were None," today 9th graders had in-depth conversation on dichotomies & determining justice.
These are some basic notes I took while the students discussed. Excited to see how their views develop!

2nd grade has discovered how to change the background on our google meet. We can dream about being in space, or camping in an airstream, or at the beach on an island.
Having some fun and learning more about google and all it can do for us!

3rd grade is on fire with their reading. We are now up to 1,100 books read on Epic and even more in the classroom. We are transitioning back to online learning with ease as we all know our expectations.

Dear Warner Parents & Staff,
We had our 2nd positive Covid test today. As this person is in the same household as the first positive case, it was expected. We have quarantined everyone that has come in contact with either of the two positive cases. We have completed all of our contact tracing procedures and reached out to all staff and students who needed to be quarantined. We have already received many results from the quarantined group, so far all negative for Covid-19. I have had daily contact with public health experts at the county and have gone above and beyond their expectations in our response to this event. We feel pretty confident that we have contained this event.
We are going to go one step further and switch the district to online for next week. By doing online learning next week and having Thanksgiving the following week we are basically quarantining the whole district. I am sorry for the inconvenience, but we need to make sure this does not go any further. We need parents and students to also do their part and minimize their contact to only essential errands. Continue to social distance, wash your hands and wear a mask. Teachers will be reaching out to students and parents before Monday with the schedule for next week. If you have any questions or concerns, please email me at david.macleod@warnerusd.net.
Stay Safe

Warner After School Program would like to thank Ral Christman and Warner Wildcat High School students Ryan Christman and Lester Fredericks for speaking to our students about the history of the indigenous people from California, Arizona and Mexico. They sang Bird songs, peon songs and talked about language and traditional ways of the Kumeyaay, Iipay and Tipai people. The students enjoyed it and we appreciate you taking the time to meet with us!

Warner Parents, reminder in honor of Veterans day there is no school tomorrow.
