Sophomores started their novel study and have a LOT to say. Free responses are exceeding the word requirements as students are finding their voice. We love seeing creative writing take off!

Warner Parents, sorry for the late call. We again are having personnel issues with our busing and currently have no backup drivers. There is a nation-wide shortage for school bus drivers right now. Our third bus driver will be certified Thursday afternoon but this doesn't help us right now. So again we will need to have students dropped off at school or attend online. Teachers will be in contact with students in the morning. Staff are to report to school tomorrow.
We will let you know what the situation is for Thursday. Reminder that there is no school on Friday to honor Native American Day. We regret this busing situation and hope to remedy this ASAP.

Dear Warner Parents,
This is Dave MacLeod with an important message. Tomorrow the High School will return from quarantine. Our safety protocol measures worked well and stopped any further spread of Delta variant. Going forward parents have to make a choice that their child attends in-person or works in Independent Study, there isn't a 3rd option of pulling students here and there. If the school predicts a risk of potential contact we quarantine. The state does not see missing school as a option if the student doesn't have symptoms or isn't quarantined. I expect to see all students back at school tomorrow. If you would like to discuss independent study as an option, please call the district office and I will be happy to explain this option. Have a great Day.
Follow up message about tomorrow. School is only online tomorrow because of our busing issue. You are free to bring your child to school or have them work from home online. We will send devices home today. We will be back to normal on Monday.
Dear Warner Parents,
We are sorry to inform you that we need to switch to online learning tomorrow due to a staffing issue for Friday the 17th. School will be online and teachers will be reaching out with more information on class schedules and links.
The school will be open for child care and in-person instruction, students either need to be online or dropped off and picked up.
Reminder that Fridays are minimal days and school lets out at 1 pm.

Dear Warner Parents, Reminder that Preschool, Kinder and 4th grade will have completed the 10 days of quarantine tonight and we expect them back at school tomorrow. I understand there is a lot of fear concerning COVID-19 Delta but schools are still one of the safest locations. We have had 3 families test positive from outside sources and our quarantines have worked. We continue with masking, symptom screening and contact tracing and we will get through this school year. I understand there is a lot of social media that flames the fears and the misinformation. If you have concerns please contact the epidemiology school line at 619-692-8636 and they will discuss quarantine guidelines. Warner is going above and beyond by doing grade level and school-wide quarantining to ensure we encompass all students that may have come into contact. Reminder Middle schoolers are back to school on Monday.

Hello Warner Parents,
This is David MacLeod, Superintendent of Warner Unified with an important message for the High School. I am calling to let you know we have had a positive test for the COVID-19 in High school. So at this time we need to quarantine the 9th, 10th, 11th, and 12th grade classes. Parents will need to come and pickup their child before the end of school today.
These classes will switch to an online class and can return to school Monday, Sept. 20th. Your teacher will be in contact with your child with more information concerning their classes. We will be sending chromebooks home with students. This is a precautionary measure to stop any more spread of the virus. We quarantined the whole high school as an extra precaution. More information will follow concerning lunches. Your child will need to login to each class according to their class schedule. If your child develops any symptoms please let us know. If you have any questions please call the district office at 760-782-3517.

10th graders are in a mini descriptive writing unit. Here, Javier, David, and Lincoln are interpreting Edward Hopper's painting, "Nighthawks," and writing their analyses.
