Dear Warner Parents and Staff, Here is an important message: Next week all schools will be open and in-person. Because of staffing issues, we will be running a North bus route, a South bus route, and vans to Los Coyotes and Oak Grove like we did at the beginning of the school year. Please see your email for the attached bus schedule. This is hopefully only for next week. We appreciate your patience with us this week as Warner had staffing issues due to the Covid-19 surge. New rules have come out to deal with the ever-changing pandemic and how we operate going forward. This was just released from the California Department of Public Health. Effective immediately, the guidelines requiring students to quarantine when they are a close contact at school have changed. Instead of being called and asked to test or stay home, you will now receive electronic communication from the school when your student is identified as a possible close contact to a person with COVID-19 within the school setting. The communication will include instructions on the steps to follow. Your child may stay in school as long as they do not have symptoms. A test is required on day 3, 4, or 5 after the exposure. The district will provide a test as long as supplies last. This will keep the majority of our students attending class in person. This again makes symptom screening at home a top priority. Parents need to check their children each day and not send them to school if they have any of the symptoms. If you do send them, you will be required to come to get them as soon as the teacher detects the child with symptoms. We have lunch deliveries today at 1:30 pm at the following locations: Lake Henshaw, Santa Ysabel, Ranchita, Los Coyote, Sunshine Summit Store, and Paradise Valley. Please be on time. High school progress reports go out today. As many staff has been ill the last week they might be a little late getting them posted. Please bear with us. A reminder that this is a progress report, it is an indicator of where your child is at this time. The grade isn’t finalized until the end of the trimester. Lots of time for the student to bring up their grade. I have been garnered that many students have lots of outstanding work that needs to be turned in. If you have questions, please call the district office at 760-782-3518. Remember that Monday is a holiday for Martin Luther King day. Thank you David MacLeod Superintendent

Dear Warner Parents, As you are aware of the increased cases of Covid-19 that is effecting our country, it has crippled many school by not having enough subs. Warner Elementary will revert to Independent Study for the coming week of Jan 10th to Jan 14th. Teachers will be reaching out to students. Preschool, Middle School and High School will continue in person. This too could change in a moments notice. I am sorry for the inconvenience this causes and we hope to have all students back the following week. If you have questions, please call the district office.

Dear Warner Parents, Tomorrow is the first school day after returning from the December holidays. As there has been an increase in Covid over the holidays, Warner USD has tested all returning staff with a rapid test. We would also like to rapid test each student tomorrow during first period. This is optional, if you don't want your child to be tested tomorrow, please alert the district office by calling 760.782.3517 and or contacting their teacher. The test is where the child places the swab in their nostril and swirls it 5 times and then places the swab on a card that determines in 15 minutes if covid is present. if you have questions or concerns please call the district office in the morning. Testing will start at 8.30 am.

Please spread the word! The FCC is providing a monthly discount on broadband “internet” service of up to $50 per eligible household (or up to $75 per eligible household on Tribal lands). But the deadline to apply is Dec. 31, 2021. It’s called the Emergency Broadband Benefit Program and the FCC will pay the internet provider directly. Eligible households can enroll through a participating broadband provider or directly with the Universal Service Administrative Company (USAC) using an online or mail in application. You can learn more about the benefit, including eligibility and enrollment information, by visiting www.fcc.gov/broadbandbenefit, or by calling 833-511-0311.

Dear Warner Parents, On Monday we will have another set of work packets available in the office for those grades that require handouts. Please confirm with your teacher if your student has handouts or if it is just online. We will also have a couple of weeks' worth of food ready for pick up as well. The pickup window will be 10 am to 1 pm. If this window doesn't work for your family, please let your teacher know and we will arrange something. Please call the district office if you have questions. Have a good Sunday.

Dear Warner Parents, I have been in communication with Team Lead for the School Response Team for Epidemiology & Immunization Services Branch at the County Health Department. She let me know that our basketball game has been determined to be a spreader event. We have identified the students who were close contacts and emailed their families. The spreader event would have resulted in us closing the school down when we had 3 different families that were positive, however we took that step already at the second positive case. So there is nothing more to do. I asked about the upcoming week and according to the decision tree we are able to come back, but there is a still a chance of spread. 10 days is the standard quarantine but 14 is better. I have weighed the risks and decided that we will go one more week in quarantine to be sure. I want everyone to know I don't take this lightly and I have discussed it with many experts, but in the end I feel we need to play it safe. I am sorry for the inconvenience it creates. We will have another message out soon about meals and packets on Monday. If you have questions or concerns, please call the district office. Please be safe and wear a mask.
